Are you nervous about starting therapy?

Here’s what to expect at your first session with me.

The first session can be daunting and so I endeavor to put you at ease by providing a warm, safe space where you can feel comfortable with me.

I will ask you to tell me a little of your story and what has brought you to therapy at this time. We will talk about your relationships, your goals, strengths and weaknesses and we will think about what you would like to achieve in therapy and how best I can help you in this process.

My style of relating has been described as warm, compassionate and gently challenging. I believe you are the expert on you and will never tell you what to do however I will offer my insights and reflections to help you identify blind spots, shift your perspective and learn to take action that leads to change.

Hopefully, this explanation makes you feel more at ease and excited about starting your counselling journey.
